Derrick Martell Rose was known as the youngest MVP ( Most Valuable Player ) in the NBA ( National Basketball Association )
on the Chicago Bulls. His moves on the court are fascinating, full of ankle-breakers and speed. Most of his life as a child was
very troublesome but worked up to be the one of the greatest people in the NBA. Right know LeBron James has taken over MVP,

Though going to the past of all of this, Derrick was born October 4, 1988 living in a small neighborhood in the South Side
of Chicago called Englewood.

Derrick Martell Rose was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 4, 1988. He lived in the south side of Chicago with his mother (Brenda Rose) who was a single parent and his 3 older brothers.(Dwayne, Reggie, and Allen) The south side of Chicago wasn't a safe place, including his small neighborhood "Englewood." Englewood was one of his biggest obstacles in life. Derrick had to face his troubles and live right through one of the most poor cities. Kids started to drop out of school at age 13, and everyone had a gun in their gangs, the problem was they didn't care where they went around shooting and still going on today there are ruthless gangs taking over the streets, doing crimes drug abuse, and poverty. Derricks elementary school was Beasley Elementary playing in his team strong and tall for his age.As Derrick grew up he started to become more serious about basketball. He had many pro athletes to follow as role models. What helped him follow his dreams of being a professional basketball player were his brothers for example when Derrick broke his right arm, he was forced to do everything with his left hand even though he was a right handed. One time his brothers won't let Derrick in the house until Derrick made 6 shots in a row with his left hand. Though Derricks mom knew she was able to count on her friends in her neighborhood to take care of Derrick or keep an eye on him she has said. "In the community he was brought up in, there were some babysitters. If I came home from work, they'd say you know he is at the park. So almost everyone in the neighborhood helped out. In elementary school he played for Beasley Elementary winning titles during his 6, 7, and 8 grade years in the position of point guard by their coach Thomas Green.Derrick Rose was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 2008, but the magic started in Beasley Elementary. He was put in the position of point guard by his coach Thomas Green. With Derricks help they won they won 3 titles in his 6, 7, and 8 grade years. In addition to that Derrick had played in several AAU ( Amateur Athletic Union ) teams. He quickly emerged into one of the top best young players in Chicago. In 6 grade he one his first public school championship. By the time he was in 8 grade he was well known throughout most of Chicago, but he always had time to to play pick-up games in Murray Park in his neighborhood.
